Lock up your sons and stay clear of the public bathrooms, George Michael is coming to Tampa as part of his farewell tour. While the former Wham frontman has been in the headlines more for his drugging and public sex than his music, he is still one of the best pop/dance artists around. Freedom 90 is one of my favorite songs ever. Too Funky would be my song if I was a stripper. And let’s not forget I Want Your Sex and Father Figure.
He’s going to be coming to the St. Pete Times Forum Aug 2nd. No word yet on when the tix will go on sale. But I think I might just be in line to get them. Is that deeply tragic?

Porn isn’t real sex.
If I only accomplish one thing with my life I hope it is in spreading the message that the types of copulation that takes place in skin flicks have no place in reality. They are fantasy. Just like you wouldn’t assume you can hit a helicopter with a police car just because you saw it in Die Hard 4, you shouldn’t assume that you can do anal without lube because you saw it in Tap That Ass 3.
Read this carefully and pass it along, here are the top porn myths put to rest.
- Porn Myth #1: Chicks love vaginal sex. In most porn flicks when the guy sticks it in the girl has an orgasm. Then they continue to moan and scream for the next 30 minutes while he pounds away down there. This is about as realistic as the special effects in a Roger Corman movie. Most women aren’t able to climax through vaginal sex alone. For many women the most sensitive parts of the anatomy are the external ones of the vulva and clitoris, which are usually not stimulated during vaginal intercourse (of course you can use your hands or different positions to maximize the stimulation of these parts). Oral and digital stimulation of these areas tend to get a woman off better than penis-in-vagina pounding. Of course, all women are different and some will actually get off better with vaginal than oral sex. Which leads us to the second porn myth. [Read more →]

This is just a terrible story. St. Pete Times (and other media outlets) are reporting that Celeste Minardi, 55, stabbed her son in the abdomen and then sliced his throat during a supervised visitation session in a psychiatrists office in Largo today.
Here’s the sum up by the Times:
A mother in a psychiatrist’s office for supervised visitation with her 15-year-old son pulled out a dagger and drywall knife and stabbed the boy in the abdomen, then cut his throat, Largo Police Sgt. Mark Young said Saturday.
Celeste Minardi, 55, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and carrying a concealed weapon Saturday morning, accused of stabbing and slashing her son Bradley Driscoll, Young said.
Minardi is the ex-wife of Timothy Driscoll, former city attorney for St. Pete Beach. The couple were married in 1984 and divorced in 2005, with Driscoll getting custody of their son, records show.
Minardi met her son about 10 a.m. at the office of Dr. Ronald Knauss, 1301 Seminole Boulevard, about 10 a.m. for the court-ordered visit, Young said. She and her son sat on a couch while a nurse sat at a desk nearby, Young said. At first everything seemed fine as she pulled from her purse a bottle of cologne and a deck of playing cards — but then she pulled out the two knives and began attacking her son, Young said.
The attack, using a 15-1/2 inch ornamental dagger and a 12-inch drywall knife, left the teenager with a deep stab wound to his abdomen and slashes on his neck and forehead, Young said. The boy staggered out to the lobby and collapsed, he said.
Meanwhile the nurse dialed 911 and a doctor at the office, Dr. Gerard Boutin, ordered Minardi to drop her weapons, Young said. She did. The 911 call came in at 10:19 a.m., he said.
Minardi, who gave an address of 1202 Fairway Drive in Dunedin, was being held with no bail at the Pinellas County Jail. She has no prior criminal history. Paramedics rushed the teenager to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries, Young said.
The big question is WHY? Here are some facts that we’ve uncovered about Celeste Minardi through some web and public records research.
- In 2005, when the couple split, she was at first given $6,000 a month in alimony, but that was later reversed on appeal.
- She was listed in a support group for people with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare auto-immune disorder. White there is nothing about the disease that leads to psychological problems, some people with chronic illnesses of all kinds develop deep depression.
- Minardi had been having supervised visitation for the last 3 years, which is pretty much the entire time since the divorce. Supervised visitation is usually reserved for cases of abuse or mental instability (you may remember Britney Spears was ordered to have supervised visits with her kids) and is not normal in divorce cases. But we don’t yet know why it was decided in this case.
- In January of last year she was sued by Capital One Bank for a past due account and she was recommended to file bankruptcy. The case was finally dismissed in 12/07 (either it was paid off or bankruptcy was filed).
- Celeste did not remarry. This has been a bit of confusion since she has a different last name from her ex-husband. She simply went back to her maiden name Minardi after the divorce.
If you have any details on this case emails us at missy@sexandtampabay.com. We can keep your identity secret. Everyone just wants to know why this happened, and we hope the boy is able to live through this!

Happy Easter!
While the Christians all celebrate the return of Zombie Jesus (what else do you call someone who rises from the dead?) by skipping work on Friday, most of us are left sort of blah. Easter isn’t really a holiday for people like me. I’m a Buddhist, so I’m not into the whole religious side of it. I don’t have kids so I can’t get into the cutsey Easter Bunny and Basket stuff. I can’t even really get excited about the whole Pagan Fertility Background of the holiday. All the decorated eggs are just reminding me that my own aren’t getting any younger.
So, again, Happy Easter!
If you’re in a similar state you’ll appreciate this weeks list of NON-EASTER things you can do this weekend. No bunnies. No eggs. And nobody getting whipped while chained to a cross.
Unless you’re into that sort of thing.
Read on for the full list of thing to do in Tampa Bay this weekend.

Yesterday in Tallahassee two controversial (and idiotic) pieces of legislation both died while a third one continues down the path to becoming a law.
Let’s start with the good news - Baggy Pants are not a crime (except against fashion). Gov. Christ has said that he would veto the bill if it even makes it to his desk. Really, this is a case where cooler heads prevailed. Yes, people hate seeing teens in baggy pants, but the idea of making a law to outlaw the pants in schools it taking it too far. The dress code of each school should be set by the local school board, not Tallahassee. And most schools (rightly) care more about raising test scores than falling pants.
Another good thing - the law that would have forced women to wait 24 hours before having an abortion has died in committee. This isn’t a pro-choice of pro-life issue, it’s about respecting women. An abortion is a medical procedure, and we would never imagine passing a law that would force men to wait 24 hours before a procedure. Can you imagine?
“Well Mr. Smith, I know you say that you want to have a vasectomy, but by law you have to wait 24 hours. Just in case you realize, overnight, that you actually do want children!”
That would NEVER happen.

1. There is a critical need for O-, A-, and B- blood. There is less than a 2 day supply of these blood types. O+ and A+ supplies are also low. How would you feel if you, or someone you love, wasn’t able to get the critical blood they need because they ran out?
2. Get free stuff! Promotions this week include free doughnuts, oil changes, Chick-Fil-A, movie passes or other great stuff. You can see all the promotions here!
3. You’ll be happier! A study published in this months edition of Science shows that people who give to others report more happiness than people who don’t.
4. Get a free medical checkup! They’ll test your iron levels, cholestoral and blood pressure when you donate.
5. Because of people like Sandy! Right now one of my co-workers is in the hospital having a cancerous tumor removed. She will be getting about 3 pints of blood during the procedure. Sandy is great. She’s a grandmother of six who still acts like someone in their 30’s. She’s vivacious, funny, and very giving. And right now she’s alive because of the people who have donated blood.
Whatever reason you choose give blood this week!

Don’t you love it when your family and friends try to convince you to get married because the wedded live longer than us single folks? Turns out that’s only partly true. Psychology researcher Julianna Holt-Lunstand looked at the blood pressure of married and single people. Happily married people had lower blood pressure than the singletons, but single people were better off than those in bad marriages.
It really is better to be single than to be sorry. At least in terms of your health.
The full study is in the online version of the Annals of Behavioral Medicine.
