This may be the most disturbing news story I’ve ever heard.

Disabled Pregnant Woman Used for Target Practice

It is truly heartbreaking.

Here are the assholes who did this.

The victim is named Dorothy Dixon. She was 29 years old and metally disabled. She had a one-year-old child and was pregnant with another. She also recieved a monthly welfare check to help support her family. The police believe that was what made her a target. Michelle Riley (35) befriended Dixon and then kept the checks under the pretense of helping Dixon. She forced the woman to live in a basement and burned her clothes so she had to walk around naked. Riley treated Dixon as a personal slave forcing her to do errands around the house and rub her feet. At some point Riley, along with another adult and 4 teenagers, turned violent. They shot Dixon with bb guns, burned her with hot glue and, after a fight, struck her on the head. The blow killed the 6 month pregnant Dixon. Her child, one, weighed only 15 pounds.

I don’t know why people treat others like this. I have been know to be a bitch in my day (yelling at people, hurting feelings) but I can’t imagine ever doing anything like this. Even worse, this went on for months. If one neighbor had spoke up or gotten involved things might have ended differently.

Maybe that’s the thing to take away from this. If you think something is wrong, report it. Get involved. Don’t just turn away because it isn’t your business. It is. We are responsible for each other. When something like this happens we are all harmed by it. It takes away a piece of our nations soul. So get involved in your neighborhood and your community.
