Apx $10. Yes, Stop Loss is another movie about Iraq, which has meant box office poison for most of the other films dealing with the topic (The Kingdom, In the Valley of Ellah, Grace is Gone). But here’s hoping that Stop/Loss can succeed where they failed with a hot cast and behind the scenes gossip (Ryan Phillippe’s affair with co-star Abbey Cornish broke up his marriage to Reese Witherspoon) because Stop/Loss is a great movie. A look at the military Stop Loss program that involuntarily extends the tours of duty of military personal. While the film may be anti-war it is unabashedly pro-military, looking at the men and women who chose to sign up after 9/11 and are now being taken advantage of by a government that didn’t have an exit strategy. Rolling Stone gave the film 3.5 stars and calls it “a powder keg with no agenda except the human one”.
